SMC Illinois Plant Manager Elected IAOM Treasurer

David Jansen, plant manager at Siemer Milling Company in Teutopolis, Illinois, was unanimously elected 2017-2018 treasurer of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) at the Association’s 121st Annual Conference & Expo on April 13, in New Orleans.

May 16, 2017 (Teutopolis, IL) IAOM announces new treasurer, David Jansen, Plant Manager of Siemer Milling Company location Teutopolis, IL. As treasurer, Jansen will be responsible for overseeing preparations for the Association’s 2018 and 2019 conferences in Atlanta, Georgia, and Denver, Colorado, respectively. He is also in line to serve as the Association’s president from 2019-2020. Jansen has been an active member of IAOM since 1995.

While serving as IAOM treasurer, he will also be vice president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), a philanthropic partner of IAOM that funds a variety of educational programs related to the grain milling industry. Jansen was the Ohio Valley District director from 2010-2016, and served as the District’s Chairperson from 2006-2009. He was a District officer from 2005-2006.

Jansen is a native of Effingham, Illinois. He has an associate degree in electronic engineering technology from Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois. He is a 2016 graduate of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program, and received a certificate in 1996 from Kansas State University and IAOM for the Advanced Operative Millers Short Course. Jansen has been with Siemer Milling Company since 1994, when he started in the maintenance department upon graduation. He became packing and loading supervisor in 1995, the assistant production manager in 2001 and production manager in 2006. He has been the plant manager since 2008.

Jansen is a past president of the Teutopolis Fire Protection District, and has been a volunteer firefighter in the district since 2006.

IAOM has been the leading provider of educational resources and training for the grain milling industry since its foundation in 1896. Through conferences, workshops, correspondence courses, short courses and publications, IAOM has played an integral role in the continued education and training of the professionals in this industry for 121 years. IAOM is an individual-based member organization with a 1,500-strong membership representing over 80 countries worldwide. With 14 districts around the world, IAOM provides an international forum for networking; the exchange of ideas, technical and educational opportunities; and the discovery of new products and services.
