Vernon “Red” Tegeler, a leader at Siemer Milling Company, Teutopolis, IL, for over 52 years, retired on September 26.
Tegeler began work at Siemer Milling in 1972, while in high school. He was named head miller in 1985, Vice President Production in 1990, and Senior VP Strategic Initiatives in 2019.
Tegeler was also a devoted contributor to milling industry improvement. For this, he was recognized as Milling Operative of the Year by Sosland Publishing Co. in 1994. The next year he served his term as President of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM). In 2007, he received the seldom awarded Gold Medal for service to IAOM.
Rick Siemer, President, said, “Red is the best of the best. He has always been dedicated to his craft and to the people who worked with him. We identify our values as Respect Trust Responsibility, Continuous Improvement, and a Commitment to Excellence; Red champions those values. His contributions to Siemer Milling Company are a key factor in our business success.”
Siemer Milling Company extends its deepest gratitude to Red Tegeler for over five decades of dedicated service, leading and mentoring generations in both the company and the milling industry; and wishes him many happy years with his wife, Elaine, his three children and their families, including nine grandchildren.
